Network Marketing Success and Arbonne International

I love many of the quality products produced by Arbonne International and have had mostly good results using them. However I have not and cannot have network marketing success doing the business of Arbonne International.

The problem is myself. And the problem is not myself. This was brought home to me vividly this week. I have been skirting around this issue, but I now know that I owe it to all of you to speak plainly.

Let's explore one aspect of this lack of success.

I have been an independent consultant with Arbonne for over 8 years. I have tried many of the marketing techniques, tools, and spent a lot of money. I have a lot of knowledge about the products. I still was not successful.

One of the people in my office of my job (J.O.B = Just Over Broke) told me this week that she had signed up with Arbonne recently and was already a district manager (first level of management). She had made all her money back. I congratulated her.

I mentioned how long I had been with Arbonne and that I could not do the business. She said to me, "Well look what I have as an extended contact base." She is the training coordinator for my department, she works in a couple of jobs outside my company, so she constantly sees a lot of people. The implication was clear - she had a personality and a contact base advantage.

She is a red personality. I am a blue.

Red's like to sell. They represent about 15% of the population. And only about 1/2 of the reds like to be sold. That leaves 85% plus of the population that does not like to be sold to amd does not like to sell. (Also check out the greens and yellows.)

This really connects with information that I had received that somewhere about 1 1/2 percent of the independent consultants do the business, and the rest just buy at the consultant discount for themselves and family and some friends. Arbonne is growing very rapidly.

But even if 5% were successful doing the business, that still leaves 95% who are not. The likely reason for this is that the Arbonne compensation plan is a stairstep breakaway plan - red personalities can work it. Most of the rest of us cannot. I'll discuss this more next week.

There's nothing wrong with the 95% being consultants purchasing with the discount.

I am among many who left a legacy of debt trying to do the business as I was told.
I didn't get the support I thought I was going to receive. I tried several different marketing campaigns. I felt like I failed.

It's Not My Fault

Mentoring for Free came into my life through another frustrated Arbonne consultant. She also still uses some of the products.

What a relief it was to find out that it wasn't my fault. My personality type generally cannot work the Arbonne type of plan.

What Can You Do?

Are you an Arbonne user but cannot do the business and are looking for network marketing success? I'm not asking you to leave the Arbonne products. I'm not asking you to join my new business.

Home Based Business - Stressed, Anxious, Worried?




Everywhere you turn it seems people are interested in a home based business, one which will help them alleviate the stress, anxiety and worry. But is this the answer? For those who are in network marketing it is the answer, but not one hundred percent a solution. Some take the job job stresses and bring them over to their home based businesses.

STRESS, ANXIETY AND WORRY.

No matter what we do in life there are things to “worry” about. But one thing is very clear, if we face them with clarity of mind that is free from negative anticipation, we have infinitely more wisdom and energy to handle the situation.

When you are worried and filled with anxiety, ask yourself if it is constructive. Is this problem telling me something that needs to be changed? Or are we dealing with it out of fear? Maybe fear of loss? Fear of abandonment or rejection, even failure? It cannot exist unless you give it power and give it life.

Worry is a habit that we’ve picked up through imitation. Worry is a choice! Read that again. Worry is a choice. Worry comes from a belief that you are powerless. But the truth is you are never powerless unless you think you are.

Instead of worrying why not look for a solution. Don’t share your problems with others. You dilute the intensity of the problem by spreading it around and you dilute you power and understanding to remove it. The solution will reveal itself if you stay with it.

Do not try to use your memory or past experiences to solve problems. Why? When you try to use what you already know to solve a problem you are using the same logic and reasoning to solve the problem that created the problem in the first place!

FINDING A SOLUTION

Don’t force a solution. A lot of solutions will be revealed to you. We should practice quiet refusal to accept agitation and confusion as a norm.

We cannot change people. They have a right to be who they are. We can, however, change the way in which we relate to them. When something happens that affects you, don’t play the blame game. When you do this you give up your power to change.

We need to have self acceptance. This only comes from knowing who we are. And when we know who we are, we can create anything we want. What we are open to is open to us. No one can keep our good from us. Others may stop us temporarily, but only we can do it permanently.

Look out for the NIOP’s. These are people who adhere to the Negative Influence of Other People. They are dying to occupy a little corner of your mind.

Learn to look at the positive side of every situation. No matter what is going on in your life there is a positive side. When you get out of bed in the morning, choose to look at everything from a new perspective. It’s a new day. What you have done in the past has nothing to do with what you would like to do in the present. Yesterday’s opportunity is gone, now we have a clean slate. Keep your focus on the ultimate goals that you have. Only you know what you want.

REMEMBER YOU HAVE A CHOICE

So take today and live in the present. The most serious and self destructive behavior pattern that a person can have is not thinking for themselves. Learn to challenge everything. Never doubt your wants. No one cares but you. Just remember nothing or no one can stop you from creating the life that you want. It is the who and what that stops us in ourselves and our own limited beliefs. Make a decision right now that you are open, responsive and receptive to new ideas and beliefs that will support you in getting where you want to go and that you are willing to give up anything that limits you on your journey.

You want a great home based business, and then take out the stress, anxiety and worry. Make solid choices then go for it. Take your business to the top!

MLM Business...Love at First Sight!


Yes, when I started in my first MLM business, it was love at first sight! There was the typical excitement. I LOVED the products, LOVED the thought of all that money, LOVED the excitement and LOVED being able to do it part time at home. I’m a stay at home Mom.

Sign me up!

So, I joined! I paid a lot of money so people could try the products out for themselves. Hey, I was gonna be making big bucks, what’s a couple thousand in start up costs…right?! Wouldn’t recommend it now! Went to all the local meetings, got on all the conference calls, attended all the seminars within 4 hours, and talked and talked and talked to all the people I knew and met (luckily it’s not my nature to be pushy, so they’re still my friends!) and guess where it got me? You probably already know, maybe it’s happening to you,…Nowhere! My first MLM love was becoming tarnished!

Frustrated, upset, confused

These were the first signs my love for my MLM business was diminishing! Hey, I wasn’t a loser! How come all these other people in my company could do it and I couldn’t? Although, looking around at the team I was on nobody else was doing it either, guess that was a clue!

Looking for answers

One day I was searching the internet looking for something, anything, to help me build my business and resurrect my first MLM love! That’s when I found my knight in shining armor! The MLM business ebook, Successs in 10 steps and realized the company I was with wasn’t the right fit for me.

Shock and Awe

Now, at first, I was stunned. I thought ,how could that be? These products are great, other people are making it, maybe, I should just stick with it and work harder. Although, I didn’t know how much harder I could work, I was already doing more that everyone else I knew, plus I was only “part-time”!

Epiphany

Soon after I was driving down the road and had an epiphany. Maybe, if you’re in the same boat as I was, this will help. I realized I was going through a kind of “break-up”, with my first MLM love! At the beginning everything was so wonderful and I was going to the top, unfortunately, I had not educated myself beforehand on what was important to look for in a MLM. So I went blindly along, figuring if it’s good for one it’s good for all.

Learn and grow

I learned that isn’t the case. So just like learning after your first break-up, what you want/need and don’t want/need in a relationship, the same thing applies to your MLM business. Everyone is different and all MLM businesses are not the same for all people. So I encourage you, if you are experiencing loss of love for your MLM all is not lost! MLM Business/MLM Dream...Is She Nuts?


When I was first introduced to a MLM business, I was told to start dreaming again. My first thought was, “Is this woman nuts? Doesn’t she know that I was told to stop dreaming a long time ago? These are the cards I’ve been dealt and I’m dealing with them the best that I can!” Frankly, I thought she had just dropped in from another planet! After all, we’re the adults here, dreaming is for kids, the ones with their whole lives ahead of them! Besides, if I start dreaming again then I’ll really have to deal with how my life isn’t supposed to be this way!

Learning to dream again!

As you can probably tell, I was totally dream averse! I was just trying to get by! Well, with that little suggestion, to dream, a seed was planted! At first, it was really scary, but then, my mind took over. I started to think what it would be like to have the life I’ve always wanted, and what kind of life do I really want? I would let my mind wander at different times and I’d let myself think, what if it really could be different, what if I could have that life? After all, there are other people who live the life of their dreams, why couldn’t I be one of them? So started my journey into my MLM business, I started to dream again!

How about YOU?

I think the older and busier we get, we accept things as they seem to be and just deal with them. I know I did! But it doesn’t have to be that way. The power is in your mind, your thoughts! Your mind is so powerful, and if you pay a little bit of attention to your thoughts and dreams you can really have what you want!

So, here’s my question to you…Can you imagine what your life would be like if you were living the life of you dreams? What do you want? What would you do? Can a MLM business really help reach my dreams? Are you letting life happen to you, or do you want to make your life happen? Do you want to feel like you did when you were a kid again and your whole life was ahead of you? If you answered yes to these questions, then I challenge you! Start dreaming again! Network Marketing Success Secrets - 3 Reasons People Fail

Network marketing success eludes many. People fail for 3 reasons.

1) Distributors do not have the skills. They are often sponsored by a friend or family member, who also does not have the skills, so cannot teach them to others.

The skills include knowing how to speak with people

Also, the different personality types, as described through the colors training, need verying types of training.

For example,

yellow types tend to take a "no" as saying "no" to them, when it is merely a "no" to the opportunity. This personality type needs to be liked by everyone and the training should show them that they are themselves and are separate from the opportunity for a product, service, or a distributorship.


Blues tend to keep talking. They need to be coached to listen more and to use things like autoresponders, as they generally have poor follow-up skills.


The green personality likes details and more details. They are very organized and will work a system well, but must be coached to move into action.


Reds cannot be coached. They always think they are right, so don't even try.


2) They choose the wrong company. Blues like the big picture and jump in, but don't read the policies and procedures. Therefore, they don't know if a company has integrity or not or if they can work the compensation plan for network marketing success.

Yellows also do not read the P & P's - they build relationships and will go with that.


Greens may or may not read the P & P's, and they may not understand them. Also, they tend to like the website as a tool and all the "colors" may like the product, but have no notion if there is a market for it.

This also is related to timing in the company and timing in the industry, one of the 5 pillars to success - can the product or service be easily sold?


3) Distributors don't believe they deserve success. Most people are programmed for "lack". They think they are not good enough, money is evil, only the poor are virtuous, etc. Even if they do not think this on a conscious level, their subconscious is bombarded with messages from the media, from friends and relatives, from movies, and more.

MLM Success - A Total Body Experience


MLM success is desired by many. Success is a total body experience. It involves developing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual fitness.

When your life is in balance than you will feel at ease with yourself and others will be attracted to you.

On your journey to the top many experience MLM fever. This is when all you can think of is your MLM business. It becomes all consuming. A raging fever sweeps through out your body. Your body craves for the success others have experienced. Your visualization of success is so vivid that you can taste it. Oh sweet, sweet success. Other things in your life are placed on hold. This produces unbalance.

The following are guide lines for balanced life:

Physical- Your body is a tool so make sure it can perform at its optimal level by eating right, getting adequate rest, and regular exercise.

Mental- Few have what it takes. Take time to develop mental strength, disciple and self-control.

Developing your why for MLM success will aid you to remain focused. Know what you are working toward.

Leave bad decisions and mistakes in the past.

Be conscience of your thoughts and make them count. Your mind matters.

When faced with a choice, evaluate and make wise decisions. Than take responsibility for your choices.

It is good to have long term goals, short term memory and at the same time delight in the moment. The journey for MLM success might be a few months or a couple of years.

Live the entire experience including sights, smells, sounds, feelings, ..all of it from the beginning to end and enjoy the process. savor and enjoy every moment as you travel to the top with your own MLM success story.


Emotional- Exchange your negative energies of fear, anger, hate, doubt to love, conviction and courage.

Spiritual- Find God's purpose for your life. Be aligned with His will. Fill your cup with His goodness.

Focusing your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual energies with full conviction and commitment will help you to maintain a balanced life. A balanced life is attractive to others and folks will be asking to join you your MLM business. There is a saying 'to make more, become more.'

Network Marketing Success Secret - You Can't Convert Other Networkers

Have you ever tried to talk another networker out of their company into yours? One huge network marketing success secret is that you cannot convert other networkers away from their company. Don't even try.

An analogy would be if you were a member of the Methodist religion and you tried to talk someone who was Catholic into seeing what was wrong with his religion and to see what is right with yours. How successful do you think you would be? How successful would someone be to convert you? Probably not very.

What does this all come back to?

Building relationships. Teaching people skills.

Use the Mentoring for Free system to learn and to teach skills and to build relationships. It's free. What do you have to lose?

If and when the people you mentor learn that the business they are with is not for them, will not make them successful, and will not build mlm residual income for them and for their children's children, then they will be looking for another home. They will ask you what you are doing.

Network Marketing Insider Secret - Herbalife




After two failed adventures in Network Marketing I was ready to quit. But one day I read an ad that said to send in $39.95 and learn about this fabulous company and how to receive true residual income. So I paid the $39.95. Mistake number one.

I got the info. No company name or what was being promoted was ever mentioned. From a few words I was able to detect, it could be a nutritional company. Couple of days after I got this so called information I got a call from a nice lady. She kept saying things like “What do you think?” Then she would tell me how much money I could make and how much fun I would have. “Do you think you could work for this company?” I had asked her two or three times what the name of the company was and what did it sell. She would change the subject, like it was some great secret. Finally, in exasperation I told her if she did not tell me the name of the company and what they sold I was going to hang up. Only then did she tell me very reluctantly that it was Herbalife. I never did get why the $39.95 material was required before you talked to someone. Even after I got off the phone with this lady, I had a bad feeling that something was not right. The $39.95 really got me. What did this material have to do with network marketing? It was very generic.

SECOND BAD FEELING

A couple days later Sally’s (not her real name) got her Red guru Space Star Commander Sponsor on the phone with me. For about three minutes or so this guy goes on and on about this great company and what an opportunity I was being given. Then he told me it would cost me $4000 to get in on the fast lane. It would also cost about $1500 for product and about $1500 for top of the line advertising. I sat at my kitchen table with my mouth hanging open and shaking my head NO! He had the gall to ask me which credit card I would like to use. I thought, for $7000, not mine! I told him that particular plan left me out. He went to the next level and I said I couldn’t do that one either. Finally we got to the bottom entry level. I told him it would have to be very bottom, lower then the lowest entry level. There was a pause and in a very exasperated voice told my sponsor to sign me up and give me the no cost and the cheapest advertising sites. He hung up!

I SAW A RED FLAG…

Next red flag was everyone was reluctant to tell me what the ingredients in the products. What were the fillers and so on. I don’t think anyone really knew. I began to see this was a recruit, recruit, recruit company. That’s where the money was.

I asked for guidance in advertising. I knew nothing but I was willing to learn. I asked for it again and again. Finally, one day my sponsor called and told me in no uncertain terms she was not a baby sitter, and that they would not help me learn about advertising, but I could join her advertising wheel for $550 a month. Then she proceeded to tell me this was not going to be a friendship between us, this was strictly business. No skills were ever given to me. No nothing about advertising or writing blogs, ezines or Web pages. Nothing! If I couldn’t learn it on my own, oh well!

MORE FLAGS

I learned the compensation plan is a STAIRSTEP BREAKAWAY. You can only build so deep on each leg then it is breaks away from you. This is a ruthless compensation plan. You constantly are working to build a good pay check.

Not only do you have the stair step breakaway compensation plan, but again it is a huge front loading company. If you think you want to deal with those two issues then go ahead. But since I have been out of this company and in another MLM business that thinks of its distributors as their lifeline, you would be surprise at how many people I get as leads who are unhappy with Herbalife and are not making it. Does it really take a Philadelphia lawyer to figure out, how do you compensate for the front loading? How long to recoup your expense? Did you know the average success in MLM is only two and half recruits? With this in mind, how can you ever make enough profit to get back your huge upfront monies?

Do I detest Herbalife? No! Not one bit. But there are other companies out there who have much better compensation plans. And by the way, if a company will not post its entire compensation plan on line, so that anyone can read it before you join….RUN, RUN, RUN! Oh yes, and the $39.95, to anyone who pays even one cent without knowing what you are paying for deserves to be ripped off! It happened to me!

THE RIGHT TO KNOW

The best thing the company ever did for me was give me the FREE ADVERTISING!!
Yep! One day a sweet lady from Canada called me and wanted to know how I was doing in network marketing company. Of course I told her I was doing nothing. We talked and chatted and she offered me a free ebook. Wow! This was so different; she offered me something for free. Hey, free sounded might good and I began to learn a better way to build a business. Why keep recruiting only to have them quit after three weeks or so? Why not build it once with a solid foundation?

Through the Mentoring program she offered for free, I am becoming a leader with integrity and confidence because I am being taught a better way to do network marketing. I am learning the right way to get LEADS. I am learning how to form relationships with these people and teach them to duplicate what I have learned. In my company people who are looking for my business come to me. I have been taught the skills of network marketing and am learning to build with little up-front money. Am a making my first million? No, but I am closer to it now then I was with Herbalife.

I want my network marketing adventure to be fun. I don’t want any gotcha’s in my P&P’s. I want a comp plan that works for me. A lot of folks in Network Marketing are looking for MLM training that will take them to the next level. Those who are hungry for success fall easy prey to marketing scams.

Please beware of MLM training that rip you off by charging high fees, promise you the world with fake guarantees and lead with hype.

How to spot a good MLM training program

Network Marketing is a relationship business, a people business. The first thing to look for in a good program is one that teaches people skills.
There are four basic personalities in the world. Each one of these personalities accepts communication differently. The quicker you can communicate with the way they receive information, the quicker you will be able to connect with them and build the ‘know, like and trust relationship.’

Along with understand their personality it is vital important to stop the chat inside your head and develop real listening skills. Look for a program that includes personal growth.

So now that you have gotten the relationship part down, search for a MLM training program that includes lead generation. In network marketing you will always want to keep your funnel full and build your own spider web. Therefore, search for a system that will teach how to generate your own leads. These leads are going to more responsive to what you have to offer. This way you will not have to call 100 leads a day to get one measly response.

Marketing skills is another important training aspect in MLM. A good MLM training program will teach you about attractive headlines that get results. In today’s world, it is paramount to understand the internet. By using this technology you can reach thousands and thousands of folks.

There is not one magical thing that will lead to you to success in MLM. It is a combination of skills, belief, persistence and hard work. For an example, when you bake a cake….it is not the flour or the eggs or the sugar that makes it taste so good. Rather it is combination of ingredients and hard work.

Network Marketing Success - The Secret to Motivation

We’ve all heard that one of the secrets to network marketing success is being motivated. We have to be motivated to take the steps to sharing our products or services. We have to be motivated to share our respective business opportunities.

In the previous article on this site Monica discussed the causes of lack of motivation as they relate to lack of skills.

Let’s take a look at motivation from another aspect, from an aspect of making a change.

As a professional health coach I can tell you that there are processes and strategies for change, for getting rid of negative health behaviors and substituting good behaviors. The same translates to overcoming bad habits that inhibit your network marketing success in favor of those that move your life and your business forward.

The basic premise we go by is that everyone is creative, perfect, whole, but may need to make some life/behavior/business changes

There are assessments you can do, but one easy thing you can do is a pros and cons balance scale. Generally, there are for basic categories to an evaluation to make a decision to change:

• Consequences of change to self
• Consequences of change to others
• Reactions of self as a result of change
• Reactions of others as a result of change

For example, you can set this up as follows:

This is just an example. Use your creativity to come up with your own balance sheet.

An interesting point is that it takes more in the positive (pro) side to motivate you to make a change than it does in the negative (con) side to keep you where you are. So keep those affirmations coming that you’ve learned about earlier.

It’s still important to find the right network marketing company, a 5 Pillars company, but you can do this, if you really want to, if your motivated to do so.

MLM Success - What causes lack of motivation?


Motivation is highly overrated as the ALL important ingredient for MLM success. Yet an unmotivated person will not make out of first base.

Just as motivation is part of the equation so are skills training.

Let me explain.

Maybe you were motivated at one time but in time your enthusiasm faded.

One reason maybe because you are not getting the results you desire for MLM success.

Do you think you would be motivated when you sponsor 5 new people every week?

Do you think you would be motivated when you reach into your mailbox and find a paycheck from your MLM Company?

Why is growth not happening within your MLM organization? Where is the MLM success you once dream of?

Maybe the problem “lack of motivation" is actually an issue of developing skills.

Let me illustrate with a scenario:

You are sitting calmly in your sit as the 747 gracefully flies through the air. The pilot unexpectedly passes out and everyone on board voted you, yes you to handle the situation.

You are in charge of flying the plane!

This is a challenge because you never flow a plane before.

You can set goals.

You can have a biggest WHY in the world.

You can tell yourself I will land the plane safely.

Your motivation is high because you don't want to die.

And you even have an attitude of gratitude!

But what is going to happen when touch down time comes?

You are going to crash unless you learn the skills of flying.

In Network Marketing, you will need skills such as;

*Communication skills- how to talk with people effectively. It's about being polite and allowing others to make-up their mind.

*Listening skills- know when the appropriate time to bring up your opportunity and when to keep silent.

*Marketing Skills-how to market your product, how to generate targeted leads.
And than when you get leads, skills on what to say to break the ice.

Network Marketing Success - When is Retreat a Victory?

I stayed with a great company for eight years before I realized that nothing I did would give me network marketing success in that company. I felt soooo guilty.

Instead of earning the money I expected, desired, and knew I deserved, I poured money into training, advertising, marketing tools, personal growth, etc. If only I could change myself, improve myself, increase my skills… I would be successful. Right!

Well, I did those things – and still wasn’t successful. I had a negative return. Don’t get me wrong – it is a great company with great products that I still like to use. But I cannot do the business! What is the matter with ME?

Well, through the Mentoring for Free program I found that there was NOTHING wrong with me. The company was wrong for me. It was and is wrong for me from the standpoint of business-building. After all, I am complete, perfect and whole just the way I am – Where is Mr. Rogers when you need him!

Needing to know what's what -

What were some of the things I found? I often did not sell the products at the retail price – offered lots of discounts to get people to buy and then hope they got hooked and either signed up as a wholesale buyer so that they’d order for themselves and I’d get some small benefit – 4%. If someone did want to buy retail I was stuck with the ordering and generally the delivery. I offered free shipping – probably part of that "feeling I had to offer a discount" mentality. Why did I give discounts to family and others? Probably because I thought on some level that the prices were too high. That no one would buy unless I offered a discount. And people pick up on that. And that’s no way to work a business that works.

The next thing I found was that it was so difficult for me to qualify for the next level, I tended to try to "buy" it. I am definitely not alone. I listened to others who get a nice bonus or override check how much they spent to generate that money. So how much is the real profit?

Breakage

The plan is a stair-step breakaway plan. Without going into confusing detail, suffice it to say I subsequently understood where the money went. I’m referring to the money I didn’t earn by reaching the levels I sought. It went to the people above me – okay. But mostly it went to build buildings, move to ever-increasing warehouses, hire more order-taking customer service reps….
Think about it – when you have to hire more personnel, what costs are involved? How about space requirements – either owned or rented. How about grounds and building maintenance, water, power, supplies, insurance costs, technical set-up costs – what would they add up to? Oh, and let’s not forget in addition to salaries you have benefits and retirement plans to pay for.
So the bigger a company gets, a company that does business with a lot of hired personnel, the more expenses that company has. What – a million? Two million a month? More? Where does that money come from?

It comes from the compensation plan – from you and from me.

The company I’m referring to did two "take-aways" this year. They ended the free product with the auto-ship – this was a great selling point for autoship. And they "raised the bar" on one of the monthly campaigns. In other words, you have to purchase more to get the bonus. They can call it anything they want – it’s still a take-away from compensation. How does that promote network marketing success?

Is there hope?

I found a company that does not do that. I now know that I can have network marketing success. This company only adds to the compensation plan and will never take away. Oh, and they have outstanding products, too.

The value of training

But to understand what I had found, I had to go through the skills training at Mentoring for Free. I no longer feel I am knocking my head against the wall. I have forgiven myself because there was nothing wrong with me.
