Network Marketing – Struggling to Survive


Struggling in your Network Marketing business is like being shipwrecked and not having the right tools to mend your boat. How long can you survive with limits resources?

Most people do not want to talk to 10 people a day and get 9 no’s. Why make yourself uncomfortable?


Most people don’t want to work harder. They already work hard and hate it. That is why they wanted to get into Network Marketing.


Most people don’t want people telling them what they MUST do. They just want to have fun and enjoy life.


My advice to you is become a non-conformist. You don’t need to be like someone else. You can not duplicate yourself. You are an individual. God made you like that, so be you. You are perfect just the way you are. You can live your life the way you choose. You don’t have to get outside your comfort zone. You don’t have to do a darn thing that you don’t want to. This is your business. You build it the way you want it built. So tear up the crusty old rule book. Toss it out to sea for the sharks to devour.


Here is a secret I found that works. People are attracted to enthusiastic, sincere folks. Stop chasing folks and start caring about them. Be their friend. By being thoughtful, sensitive and supportive of others, you will develop friendships for a life time. These folks will be the best business partners you will ever have.


Mend your broken ship before all your dreams are swift out to sea. With the right tools, you can watch your business change from a survival mode to a successful fun loving adventure.

Be - Do - Have for Network Marketing Success

Many people think that you work hard to have what you want and then you can be who you want and this creates network marketing success. This is the opposite of that has to take place.

When you consider that people are attracted to people who know where they're going, who are enthusiastic, and comfortable with who they are, doesn't it make sense that you have to accomplish the "BE" part first?

This all goes back to minding your mind, to changing your thoughts. This goes back to training your subconscious to change who you are. This helps defeat your Gremlins, the voice that keeps you from the next part, which is taking action, or at least keeping them at bay.

Once you are who you need to be, you, with the willing help of your subconscious, are able to get into action - the "DO" part.

Following all the action in your network marketing business that creates success, you will "HAVE" the things that you desire.

Building real residual income: The magic of network marketing

I was reading Chapter 19- The magic of network marketing: Building real residual income by Barry Friedman in the book the ultimate guide to network marketing.

He shares in this chapter the same concepts that we share in the mentoring for free.

He explains how the residual income can be so significant and not well appreciated.
Obviously, it is better to make $10,000/month forever than making $50,000/month for 3 months.

That's one of the reason I got angry and left orenda international because of their front overloading system and the multiple breakaways in their compensation plans. Obviously, I did not understand these concepts initially until I got a slap in the face when I noticed that they stopped paying me as soon as I stopped working. Breakaways broke my heart ;) , I recovered though, lol. I am mainly interested in recurring income.

Barry Friedman recommends that you explain this concept to your prospects so they can see beyond the immediate cash money.

He gives an example:

If you worked hard in your business for couple of years and you were able to make $3000 residual income, then it is equivalent to 3% interest rate on $1,000,000. Congratulations you are officially making like a millionaire!

Actually, in my own company presentation we use this concept to explain the benefits of multi-level marketing and the recuring income. You may want to add this concept to your company presentation. It will help your prospects to see beyond their noses.

It seems that Barry Friedman is Big Al student, these are the principles taught by Big Al to the industry.

In order for you to get a real residual income, you product should fulfill these criteria:
  • High demand

  • Great value

  • Limited competition

  • Affordable pricing

  • Continuous need

  • Ready availability

  • Geographical availability

  • Products or services backed by a guarantee or warranty

He discusses in this chapter more concepts that I will share with you in future posts.

How to recruit new prospects nationwideOctober 02, 2000By Michael Sheffield

Q: I'm new to network marketing and want to really build my business. Most of my prospects live too far away for me to go see them. What's the best way to recruit them? I don't have the money to fly to see people all over the country.

A: In the MLM business, what you're referring to is called "long distance sponsoring." This form of recruiting is critical to the success of today's technologically empowered organization builder. With many of today's companies offering worldwide sponsoring potential, knowing how to communicate a compelling long distance message can substantially impact your profits.

A forward-thinking company already has many of the tools needed to assist you. These consist of brochures, audio and video tapes, and other leave-behind pieces or direct-mail pieces. Unfortunately, nondiscriminent use of these recruiting tools can be expensive and means it's difficult to measure the results. Most companies also support distributors through company-sponsored national conference calls and fax-on-demand systems. Probably the two most important tools used today by successful business builders are the telephone and the Internet. With the competitive cost of long distance services and the increase in prospects who are online at their home and office, these are the areas to which you should direct most of your long distance sponsoring efforts.

Long distance sponsoring consists of two approaches. First, you have to work your "warm market." These are the people with whom you already have a relationship and who are usually open to your message. The second area consists of the people you don't know personally but who need to hear about your opportunity. Herein lies your biggest opportunity.
Working with your warm market is easy since your personal relationship assures an increased opportunity for a positive telephone interaction. However, having a concise and compelling phone presentation is still important. Your warm market contacts will receive you well but may turn cold to a recruiting pitch if you don't approach things correctly. Working with your "cold market" (all those strangers) is a bit different and requires some additional skills.
No matter what type of prospect your long distance prospect is, for the best success I recommend using the buddy system of sponsoring. Not everyone is a sales "closer" (someone who knows how to get a prospect to say yes to a sales offer). It takes experience and, to a great extent, instinct to do this well. Using a team approach works best. In typical network marketing situations, a new distributor will set up a personal appointment with a prospect and take their sponsor, or a skilled upline member, to the meeting with them to assist in the close. It's a form of on-the-job training.

Initiating long distance sponsoring uses these same two-on-one dynamics during a three-way conference call between you, your sponsoring buddy and your prospect. It's critical that you have a conference call feature on your phone. It's not a very expensive add-on to your current phone service. And you'll use your company's Web site as an online product information and recruiting brochure to support your phone presentation during or after the fact.
Here's how to do it: Call your warm market friend and let them know you've started a new business and would like to explain the products to them. Mention that you'll need 10 to 15 minutes. Even if they're not interested, it will help you practice your sales presentation. If it's not a convenient time, set an appointment for later. When you make your appointed call, tell them your new business trainer is also on the line and make an introduction. Now your recruiting buddy can handle the presentation with you, staying silent unless asked to participate. Either during or after the call, you'll ask your prospect to go to the company Web site and look at your products and business information. Most companies allow prospects to enroll online. If not, faxing an application can work or, if necessary, you can mail literature and an application.

Even if your prospect makes a positive commitment during the phone call, you'll need to follow up within one or two days. Have something new to tell them that they didn't hear the night before. Begin building enthusiasm again. Start making plans with them for phone and Internet training, and commit them to the next national company conference call with a guest.
If they want to think it over, don't be discouraged. When you talk to them the next day, don't ask if they're ready to enroll; assume they are. Even after they've enrolled, they may have second thoughts. That's why you need to contact them several times over the next week to strengthen their decision and demonstrate your interest in their success. Long distance sponsoring will work for you if you work the system.

MLM Secrets - 3 Secrets I Learned


MLM secrets I discovered from the MLM university

I joined MLM University because I was not having success in my Network Marketing business. I believed with the right training I too can become successful. One secret taught by MLM University is the importance of using the right verbiage when introducing folks into your business. Other secrets taught include closing techniques and how to overcome objections.

Sounds great, right?

Only, I had a problem. Because of my personality, the techniques taught by MLM University were not natural and I struggled. So I practiced and practiced their techniques. I reasoned, if I verbalize it enough, it will become second nature. I even took this training to the market place. I got results but it wasn't pretty. Most people hid when I approached them again and I felt awful.

Soon I realized in order to be successful I would have to change my personality and become someone I’m not. I would have to sell, something I do not like. They call it selling by attraction. Yum, how attractive is it really?

I kept thinking there has to be another way to do this business.

During my struggle I searched for answers. I found the truth.

Three MLM secrets I learned.

I learned that Network Marketing is not a sales business. 90% of the population don't even like pushy, 'salesy' people. WOW.

I learned Network Marketing is a people and mentoring business. The key to success is understanding people. Study people and find out how to help them reach their dreams. By reaching out and touching people's hearts your own dreams will be fulfilled.

I learned that real Network Marketing team building is voluntary. Now I never ask people to join me in my business. People voluntary come to me. That's truly rejection free! I learned when you use closing techniques you also closing the relationship. People buy from people who they know, like and trust. An easy way to get people to trust you is by not closing them.

Now I'm having fun building my business. This approach has taken the pressure off of selling and trying to get people in my deal. Instead I'm sharing and building relationships with people quickly and easily. My approach to my network marketing business is ethical and I can talk with folks comfortable and with confidence.

Core Values and Network Marketing Success

Are your core values in alignment with your goals? If they are not, it is much more difficult to have network marketing success.

What are your core values? They are things that are important to you, such as freedom, nature, peace, service to others, beauty, simplicity, honesty, loyalty, etc. There are many core values that people have. Often it is difficult to identify them.

As a professional health coach, one way I help my clients discover their primary values is to describe a time in their life that was wonderful. Then I listen for the values that come out of the narrative. I then help them see if their goals are in alignment with these values. For example, if, as a leader, you will be doing a lot of speaking engagements that depend on a great deal of travel, but one of your main values is to spend a lot of time with your family, then they are out of alignment. In this case, perhaps you will need to change the number or the type of speaking engagements to which you commit. Otherwise, the disconnect will keep you from being balanced and may interfere with network marketing success.

MLM TIPS - LEADERSHIP QUALITIES



Network marketing is not a sales business. It is a people business.

Learn to listen; God gave you two ears and one mouth. You need to listen twice as much as you talk.

A relationship business, no matter how terrible the product, or services and no matter how poorly it is managed will almost always succeed.

You need a mentor. You must have a mentor to be a mentor. You want a mastermind group of like-minded people who want YOU to succeed. You want up-line support available when you need it

Be a mentor with a servant’s heart.

Get it from your head to your heart.
Write three reasons why you must succeed.

Build a spider web. Talk to people and reach out to help them. There’s a saying
The harder I work, the luckier I get.” It’s true. Especially when you work at building relationships. If you want happiness and fortune and fulfillment in your life, you need to create relationships with people. To do that you need to study people and understand them.

3. Green: 15% Book keepers, accountants. They love data and are very anyletic people. But they miss the big picture because they are to busy anylising an opportunity.
4. Red 15% Money, money, money. Get out of my way. I want money. NOT COACHABLE.

Finding the right Network Marketing Company is like slipping into a perfectly fitting boot. It will feel comfortable and provide the support you need to take the necessary steps to success Like the song says, ‘those boots will take you walking'. One of those days those boots will take you walking down the highway to big, big success.

Imagine stepping into an ill-fitted boot. From the outside, the boot looks beautiful. But as your foot slides into the boot your toes squeeze against the ridgit leather wall as if they were in prison. It does not take much for your sensitive heel to form a blister. Each step causes distress. Although the boot is beautiful, it is not a match for you. It goes against the natural shape of your living soul.

So an ill-suited Network marketing company will cause pain and frustration. You will be fighting an up hill battle. Instead of building your business, your will be tending to your wounds. You will ask yourself “What is wrong with me? Why can’t I do this business?”

6 Key Points in Finding a Network Marketing Company

  • Company integrity.There is a simple way to evaluate a Network Marketing company’s integrity. They will tell you! That’s right, it’s written in their Policies and Procedures. Read them before you sign. Make sure it is poison free. This is a contract, please understand the rules so that this company will not terminate you and steal your check. Does the P&P protect the distributor or the company? Watch out for the terms like ongoing training, ongoing recruiting, ongoing selling. Rod Cook, the MLM watch dog will tell you never join any company that has more than 30 pages of polices and procedures.

  • Company management experience. The leaders of your company must have true Network Marketing experience. Is the leader a suit or have they built a downline? Healthy companies understand what it takes to be successful from the bottom up. They have been in the trenches and understand what the distributor goes through.

  • Compensation plan. There are a number of reasons why Network Marketers join different companies before they find the right fit. One reason is Network Marketers fail to understand that the structure of the compensation plan drives the behavior in the field. For an example, a choleric personality does best in a stair step breakaway plan. This plan promotes selling and recruiting, something that is very natural for a choleric to do. Your personality needs to match the type of compenstion plan for true success. The compensation plan has to be one where average part time people can make money. Look for a company the pays on volume and allows you to go wide and deep without breakage.

  • System for success. A step by step action plan that average people can follow is vital. An updated system of success includes up line support, training communication skills, teaching team support and implementing duplication. The process involves self improvement, personal growth, positive thinking and self talk.


  • Products.. The company needs to have more than one product. The products must be remarkable and stand out from the crowd. It must be reasonable priced and must be sold retail to friends and family. It must be consumable so that folks can reorder.

  • Timing in the industry. It's important to look at the company's timing in the industry and your timing with that company.



When a person finds the right fitted company and they use updated skills, success will be theirs. Research and educate yourself about this business. There is wealth in education and knowledge is powerful.

Headlines for Network Marketing Success

We all know that headlines are designed to attract attention, right? It's the same for network marketing success. How so?

In a newspaper or magazine do you read all the articles? Probably not, unless you have nothing else to do. If you want to be successful in network marketing you will likely confine your reading to just the articles that have headlines that grab your attention. When you do newsletters, flyers, e-zines, or articles, the headline can be the difference between people deciding to look at your information or not.

But did you ever consider that a headline could also be the first line out of your mouth in a live presentation? Do you focus very much on a presentation where the first line is the run-of-the-mill or the same-old-same-old words you've heard a million times? Do you listen closely to a demonstration that starts out plain and boring?

One of my mentors teaches that if the "headline" at a presentation is interesting, exciting, and attention grabbing, it almost doesn't matter what the rest of the presentation is.

Network Marketing Leaders Success Tips

To become a leader in Network Marketing who is destined for success, you need to
sell yourself. These skills will make your organization in network marketing a success if when applied by you as a leader will put your business together and forward to reaching your goals with ease.

When approaching a new recruit start building a relationship. You want to talk to them about their dreams and their goals. Ask them to write out their WHY, their dream. You need to learn the skill of listening. When a recruit knows that you care for them by listening, you are establishing credibility and integrity. Notice if they have the desire and the time to do the buisness.

Establish credibility with them. Don’t try to sell them on your deal. 92% of the world hates pushy aggressive sales people. Talk to them about their dreams, their goals and their future. Then with emotion create in them the desire to go for their goals. You will draw people to you if you reach out and touch them by letting them know you genuinely care. When you help create another persons dream, you create for yourself a secure future.
People are drawn to leaders who are passionate and who ignite emotion in others. It is called magnatizm, it draws, it pulls together your organization and it will flow like an carefully oiled machine.

As a leader in network marketing your job is to create in them the desire for a better life, a residual income that will take them to a comfortable lifestyle. Help them focus on their goals so they can see themselves in the picture. Help them paint in their sub conscious mind the goals of their dreams. Let them feel the success, let them visualize themselves there when the goals is in sight. Create in them a Burning Desire, a Passion to strive with every fiber of their being to reach their dream in MLM. You need to instill persistence, a healthy attitude, and determination. Let them know you are there for them any time.

To be a leader in network marketing is a responsibility. Take it seriously. It can
mean the difference between a great retirement and a dull retirement. Network marketing needs leaders who are willing to learn the skills to succeed. Are you ready to go to the top?

Network marketing online

I received a question today: How to do network marketing online and the question came from a person in australia actually.

1) You can use the internet to sell your products (nutritional or other type of products) by having a website or by having a blog. It is possible but it is not easy, the best way for internet marketing newbie is to have an SBI that provides step by step a plan of action. Building a website is very complex and takes time. A successful website is like any business needs a marketing strategy, dedication, and time. If you build a successful website then it will be very beneficial. Building a website without the proper knowledge and tools will lead to a website that is lost in cyberspace and leads to frustration.

2)Do not expect the internet to do the recruiting for you.
In network marketing, people join people who they know, like and trust and this is a little bit difficult to do online. It is possible to some extent especially by using multimedia.
Do not expect momentum in your business if you are hiding behind your computer. You need to pick up the phone and connect with your team and build solid relationships.

The internet is probably the best tool to generate targeted leads to your business.

Network Marketing Tip - Duplication


Duplicating your business in Network Marketing involves having a proven system with upline support, training and mentoring. Such a plan should include up to date system methods.

Times have changed and methods have evolved.

The things that worked a few years ago, do not work today. Yet many companies and teams still use and teach outdated system methods.

Are home parties working in your area? Is your town “all partied out?” Approximately 92% of the population does not like to sell or be sold. Is there a way to promote your product without coming across salesy?

Most Network Marketing companies will first ask new distributor to focus on their warm market. A warm market consists of people they know such as relatives, friends and co-workers.

A Network Marketing company or upline will instruct you to pull out a sheet of paper and write down a list of 100 names of family and friends. WOW. I have never done that and I do not know anyone who has been successful using this method. This does not work! Yet companies and team leaders still teach it.

What does work?

A step by step action plan is needed. This plan should be easily to follow. It should be a plan that you can teach everyone. Remember most of the people you bring in are going to be part time, average people. So the key to look for is an overall system that everyone can do.

Network Marketing is about people. Have a system that will teach your downline about building relationships. The quicker a person can build a relationship with someone, the easier they will build a team. Becoming a color profiler is a must. For more information click on Network Marketing Training.

It is important to understand how to build “the list” from your cold market. Your cold market are people you do not know and have not yet met. There are a number of ways to build your list. The internet is a great tool. Some folks buy leads. I personally would not recommend this unless you know where the leads came from since most of these leads are sold over and over and over again. Ever wonder why the leads you bought acted put off or your prospects tend to be short with you?

In my opinion, it’s best to start on a low budget and test your market before spending a lot of money. Your upline should provide training on designing marketing headlines that capture your prospects attention and creates curiosity.

As my mentor “Big Al” say, 'your first sentence or headline is everything. If you don't capture your prospect's interest immediately, you are wasting your time.' Let your imagination flow! It is a good idea to create your own leads. This way your leads tend to be of quality.

Do you have a mentor? Everyone in Network Marketing should have a mentor. Someone who has 'been there and done that' and can teach and guide you along the way.

“A” Is for ABUNDANCE for Network Marketing Success

Do you have an Abundance mindset or a Scarcity mindset? What’s the difference and who cares?

Well, we all should care. Why? Because abundance means quality of life to be experienced now, not later when we retire and are too tired. Abundance means enough, love, easy to get. This is a state of being.

What about the opposite concept, Scarcity? This, too, is a state of being – of perceived not having enough, abundance is not plentiful, things are hard to get.

Which state of being do you prefer? You have control over which state of being you are in for network marketing success and for life. If you are in a state of scarcity how do you change to one of abundance? It takes work. It takes being grateful. It takes reprogramming your subconscious. We’ve heard this before.

One exercise that has worked for a lot of people is an ABUNDANCE NOTEBOOK. Every day write 10 things that you are grateful for and 10 things you acknowledge yourself for.

You can be grateful for anything – the smallest thing, such as the sunrise, a loved one, a pet, being able to get up in the morning, having a car, being able to brush your teeth, the Super Bowl, etc. You get the idea!

You can acknowledge that you did get up in the morning, that you did brush your teeth, that you ate a healthy food, that you exercised, that you put the dishes away, that you made a phone call for network marketing success. Anything you did, no matter how small, counts. Any positive thoughts or creative ideas also count. You are infinitely creative and whole. You can do this.

It is said that it takes 21 days to create a habit. I challenge you to do an Abundance Notebook for at least 21 days. Develop the habit and see how your Scarcity thinking changes to Abundance and you Abundance thinking gets stronger.

Network marketing success: get into the good habits

I have already posted an article I called network marketing success strategy.

I would suggest following this strategy.
If you have troubles in generating leads then check the tips in mlm lead generation category

Now, in order to succeed in the rest of strategy you need discipline .

You must get into good habits; you must set up your schedule.
In order for you to achieve success and get to financial freedom, you need to get yourself into taking action and discipline yourself.

Your daily method of operation:
1-prospect
2-follow-up
3-connect
And commit yourself.

Do NOT get distracted.

After you finish your 1-2 hours of real work, connecting yourself with your prospects, then you allow yourself to make researches, read your motivational books, your self development book, work on your blog or your website, etc...

Self-discipline is essential for network marketing success.

So, analyze yourself: are you taking action and generating your leads.
If you succeeded in doing so, then are you setting regular hours on a daily basis to prospect, follow-up, sponsor and train?

Are you having difficulty picking up the phone?
Are you prospecting like the pros and getting yourself connected to your prospects?
